More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Between babysitting and working as an early childcare educator, I have a lot of experience caring for children. I’ve been working in a daycare for over a year now and feel like I could manage just about anything! I have become very good at multitasking and caring for several children at once! At my job, I often care for 5 infants (under 12 months old) by myself for the full day, managing bottles, diapers, naps, and play/enrichment and logging everything for each baby. I also prepare meals, wash dishes, fold laundry, and pick up/clean/disinfect toys during this. Other times, I am working with kids aged 3-5 years old, with a ratio of one teacher to ten children. I work hard to engage and connect with the kids and keep them all happy and safe, even when there is a lot going on at once!! I find that I am very capable of handling any age group, and I love that each age group has different, special things to appreciate- like the beloved newborn scrunch as well as the silly pre-k quotes!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love planning all sorts of activities! Usually painting and other arts and crafts is a favorite! I also enjoy baking, science experiments, playing outside, pretend/dramatic play, and storytelling!
The most important part about being a nanny...
In my opinion, the most important part about being a childcare provider is making the child feel safe, loved, and cared for.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with special needs children including autism, anxiety, trauma, and behavioral issues, and developmental delay. I find that while these children require special needs, bonding with them is no different than bonding with any other child. One particular child comes to mind, a non-verbal 5 year old boy with autism who attends my daycare center. At first, I will admit that I felt a bit nervous around him as I wasn't sure what to expect from him- but now that I am familiar with him, I LOVE him SO much! He is such a ball of sunshine and I love seeing his happy stims!!! He is the sweetest boy and his differences are so special and are what makes him, him! Bonding with him has been easy and wonderful! Many of the children I care for have special needs on different levels, and I have learned that being careful and attentive to their needs and preferences, and engaging with them in ways that suit them best, shows the child that they are understood and loved!!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have had so many sweet moments with kids over the years that it’s hard to choose just one favorite! It always warms my heart when a child tells me they love me (of course I always say it back!) or when they cuddle up to me or even fall asleep on me. Knowing that I make them feel safe and loved makes me so happy. My absolute favorite memory, though, would have to be when a 4 y.o. girl at my daycare center was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up- her response: Miss Madi!! It is so special to know that I am leaving a lasting impact on these sweet souls!
