I used to work at a daycare for two years with ages 0-9. I then quit and decided to become a nanny. I enjoy being a nanny because I get to focus one on one with each child. I worked with the same nanny family for four years watching twins since they were 2.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
art projects, going to the park, reading stories, going outside, playing with chalk, playing with toys, going to the aquarium, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is to provide a nurturing environment for your children. Also understanding what your expectations are for me, as well as your children so I know how to handle situations properly. It's important to be reliable and to make sure your children are safe, have fun, and in good care.
My experience with special needs children...
My cousin has down syndrome. I often watch her. I also have taken many peer tutor classes in the past. My mother is an occupational therapist and works with children that have disabilities. I have learned a lot from her. They are just like everyone else but just need different accommodations and I believe they should feel just as special as people without disabilities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment has been to watch my last nanny family's children grow up. I was with them for four years and loved every part of watching them grow and develop.
