More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have volunteer coached kids in soccer for four years, working with both boys and girls ranging in age from 1st grade to 5th grade. I also have had various babysitting jobs throughout my life and have watched up to 5 kids at one time.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love playing cards and board games, putting together puzzels, doing crafts, and painting and drawing. I also can assist in building some pretty cool lego towers! I am also an English major at my college so on rainy days I love to sit down and read a good book aloud. As for outdoor activities, I love being outside and have played almost every sport out there. I'd love to kick a soccer ball around, throw a football or frisbee, or even just run around for a good game of tag. I currently run on the cross country team at my school so I promise I can up with that seemingly endless energy of kids.
The most important part about being a nanny...
For me, the most important part about being a nanny is forming close bonds with the children you care for. As someone is entering their home and their lives, it is my job to make them feel as comfortable as possible with my presence. I also think it is my job to encourage that natural joy and wonder that comes with childhood. I want to nurture that curiosity and make it fun to explore all the possibilities the world has to offer.
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have any experience with special needs children but I am more than willing to adapt and learn as is needed.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My most formative moment comes from my time as a volunteer soccer coach. In my third year of coaching I had a little girl who could barely kick a soccer ball at the beginning of the season. She did not have much confidence in herself and so throughout the season I worked with her not only on her soccer skills but also on her confidence. By the end of the season she had made such great improvement, but the most amazing part was that she truly believed in herself and her abilities. In the final game of the season, she made an amazing pass in front of the goal that one of her teammates scored off of. The joy I saw on her face in that moment is something I will never forget. To see all the progress she made over the span of the season was certainly the most rewarding experience of my time coaching.
