More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My school district had a very small special education program and I frequently spent my free periods volunteering there. This is where I developed my love of childcare. From there I regularly babysat a family of 4 children ranging in ages from three to ten. I also cared for an infant starting at 5 months old until he was 2. While living in Connecticut I worked at the Yale YMCA and assisted staff in running the summer camp program. I'm currently attending northeast state community college to get my associates in early childhood education, and one day own a daycare of my own.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My all time favorite thing about working with children has to be watching them develop language and reading skills. I have a real passion for english and was reading before I even attended school. I think a love of reading is the greatest gift you can give a child. If language skills are a high priority for you then I'm the nanny you're looking for. Whether it be reading books, learning the alphabet, or discovering new words together, I'll make sure your little one gets all the skills they need to unlock the power of language.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is helping the child learn everyday skills to live a fulfilling life, such as communication, empathy and self confidence. My favorite part of working with kids by far is having the privilege to help mold their character, and watching them blossom and grow as people.

My experience with special needs children...

I spent many years working with special needs children at my school. We were a small Christian private school and didn't have a lot of staff for special education students. As a result I ended up volunteering with them a lot and absolutely fell in love. I worked with students with a variety of challenges, including autism, FAS, and severe anxiety. I still remember all of them fondly and nothing brought me more joy than unlocking communication with them and getting into their worlds.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment would have to be when a baby I had been watching since he was only a few months old learned to say my name for the first time. He called my "Maai" for a while because he couldn't quite get the G pronunciation down. It was adorable, and I was honored to have had such an impact on him. Although he won't remember me because he was too little, I know the time I spent nurturing him will positively affect him for the rest of his life.
