A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Maria and I have lived in the Memphis area for over 12 years. I am an aspiring pediatric physical therapist who also has a background in ballet dancing/teaching, weightlifting and various forms of child care. I have had many opportunities for employment in my years since college, but nothing brings me joy like caring for children. I was a nanny for a nanny-share in the VA/DC area during the pandemic and could not have loved it more. I feel most comfortable working with ages newborn up to 8-9 years old. I have many weeks of lesson plans and activities for toddlers that I made during my time as a nanny in VA. Some of my favorite activities to do with children are sensory play, dance/music time, story time, walks to the park/ out door play, and games that track developmentally for children based off of their ages.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is first and foremost, protecting the child/children and ensuring their safety. The second most important is that the child feels seen, heard, and loved by the nanny at all times. Nanny's play such a crucial role in a child's development, so I take the role of "nanny" very seriously and care for children to the best of my ability.

My experience with special needs children...

I have spent many hours working with and watching my cousin, David, who is on the spectrum and is diagnosed with Down Syndrome. He is truly the light of my life and I feel as though I have the patience to work with your children if they have any special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Oh there are too many moments to tell. But I think one of my favorite nanny moments was when the parents of one of the children I cared for came to me with so much excitement because their daughter had clearly communicated (through sign language) what she wanted. I teach basic, age-appropriate signs for toddlers who are not fully conversational yet. It was a magical moment for all of us!
