Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love reading, painting, drawing, dancing, exercising, singing, baking, cooking, and doing cleaning competitions. I also enjoy doing outdoor movie nights, gardening, walks, treasure hunts, any sport, box painting, and friendly experiments. Of course, most of these activities may depend on the age of the child, I love creating activities that the child will enjoy and learn from as they are in a crucial developing stage.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is being patient. Patience is needed to build honest friendships with gremlins :) You're dealing with curious and developing minds, so it's important to accept and understand their behavior without getting annoyed or anxious. Being patient with the parent(s) is important as well. It's not easy to trust people with their babies and share their parental job, building this bond requires patience.
My experience with special needs children...
As I mentioned I have a 9yr old brother who is of special needs. To be more specific he is autistic. He has difficulty with his speech, doesn't like loud and overbearing sounds, has behavioral difficulties, and is easily overstimulated. I've dealt with meltdown/sensory overloads and behaviors from my autistic brother. We've had at-home teachers who have taught my family and me how to care for and calm these situations. Over the care of my younger brother, I've learned and become to be more patient, compassionate, consistent, and understanding toward little minds.
