More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Genesee Depot, WI in their Lifelong Faith Formation Program as a small group leader (Fall 2015-Spring 2019) for children ages 6-9 as well as for their Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program (Fall 2013-Spring 2015) as a Montessori teacher for children ages 3-5. Also at Saint Paul's, I was an assistant for a small summer program for middleschoolers. Additionally, I watch over three of my first cousins once removed (to use the fancy terminology!) during family gatherings. Furthermore, on an Alive In You mission trip in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I helped out twice at a daycare center for about five hours apiece. I also volunteered for an afternoon at the Boys and Girls Club of Atchison, Kansas.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Playing board games, NOT watching TV too often or being on phones (I think we need to get away from technology as much as possible), reading story books, drawing, cooking, writing stories together, telling stories, acting out stories, making poems, doing crafts, having paper airplane contests, conducting science experiments, playing games outside like freeze tag, hide-and-seek and statues, playing frisbee, giving wagon rides, giving piggy back rides, playing with the pets, going to the park, swinging, feeding birds, skipping stones, making chalk drawings, biking, jump roping, hula hooping, having running contests, playing with hair, building tents, singing, gardening, landscaping, sitting outside and talking, going on hikes, playing with kites, answering their unique questions, observing and teaching about nature, developing code language, looking for cool rocks and digging for treasure (without destroying the gardens!), making plays, and letting them invent fun activities themselves!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing for me is showing the kids that they are loved and helping them to love others and seek what is good.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not worked with special needs children in particular, although I have observed the way others work with them (especially at Goodwill where I used to work), and I would be more than willing to care for them if they are entrusted to me, and I would love them all the same. As Mother Teresa said, "How can we say there be too many children? That is like saying there are too many flowers." Each little life is so precious!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite funny moment was when I asked my cousin's daughter: "how do you get all your energy?" and she responded "I sleep and sweat a lot!" (That is what she said last year when I asked her, and this year I asked her again, and the answer was: "I drink a lot of milk!")
Another favorite moment (well, many favorite moments) is whenever I come back from a trip and get to see my little friends again, and they are so happy, saying “Miss Mary is back!” and giving me hugs. The kindness and joy of children always warms my heart.

I am a current college student who is looking for a summer position, loves kids, and loves having fun! I do not specifically have experience with nannying, but I have a younger sister (currently 15), a younger brother (13), and lots of little cousins, so I know all about taking care of kids.
