A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Mary. I'm 17 years old and currently a Senior at Great Oak High School. I love working with children and have been babysitting my younger brother and cousins since I was 10 years old.

I aspire to be a nurse-specifically a pediatric nurse-and I have taken many classes at Great Oak to prepare me for the job of my dreams.

I currently have both First Aid and CPR certification. I also have experience as a Student Athletic Trainer (for football season) where I worked with sports injuries and learned under the head Athletic Trainer.

Some classes I have taken to prepare me for the healthcare field are: Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology, and I am currently taking Advanced Kinesiology. I am also a hardworking AP student.

Please keep in mind I am a High School Senior who is nearing graduation and looking for part-time work to fund college and other necessities.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I spent many hours volunteering for events at Elementary Schools such as the annual Harvest Festival, Science Club, and Fundraisers. I have gained many opportunities to volunteer for a teacher I have been very close with since I was in her class in Elementary School. I would grade papers, clean and decorate classrooms, create sample projects, etc.
My Sister-in-Law recently had a beautiful baby boy (currently two months old) who I have babysat many times. I have experience changing diapers, feeding, and patience with crying.
Aside from this I have also babysat my younger cousins (aged 4-12) where I provided quick meals, playtime/enrichment, help with homework, amongst other necessities.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking walks to nearby parks and playgrounds where we can play tag and other outdoor games. I really love to be creative and heavily enjoy painting, coloring, and any science or arts and crafts projects.
I also enjoy playing video games (although i'm not very good at them), baking, trivia, and reading.
I am more than willing to help with homework (to the best of my ability). I have taken AP Human Geography, AP World History and AP English. I am currently enrolled in AP Government and Politics as well as AP Calculus. I will do my best to provide your child with helpful tips and guidance on school assignments.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is to not only provide care and love, but build strong connections with the child that they will remember and look back on.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with people and children with disabilities since the age of 12. I have worked with Severely Handicapped children as well as those with Autism. I was also in YAC, the Youth Advisory Council of Temecula, where I spent a lot of my time volunteering for events for those with disabilities. Much of my Sophomore year (before COVID hit) was spent at the Mary Phillips Senior Center where I prepared meals, activities, and socialized with the attendees. Most of those who attended the events (ie. Movie Nights, Halloween Costume Contests, Thanksgiving Dinners, as well as other Holiday Celebrations) were people and children with disabilities.
I enjoyed every second I spent with these individuals and would love to offer my services to you and your child.
