Trust. If you do not trust your child’s caregivers then the relationship cannot bloom. I feel like I am a partner to the parents of the children in my care. I want them comfortable enough to come to me with questions about their child’s development, or with questions about their time at school. They should know that their child’s health, safety and well-being is my top priority.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for student with life threatening allergies. I am trained in how to use an Epipen. I have experience working with type 2 diabetes including administering insulin shots, checking blood sugar levels and managing symptoms. I also have experience with a feeding tube. I’ve also cared for several children with learning disabilities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I haven’t started my journey as a Nanny, yet. But, my favorite moment as a caregiver is the “lightbulb moment.” Wether it be their first steps after tottering for so long. Or, when they wake up with a dry diaper and begin potty training. I love watching children learn and grow. I feel privileged to be a part of it everyday.
