Howdy! My name is Maya and I'm currently a student at Sam Houston. Most of my classes are online, but I do have one class that is from 12-1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have always loved caring for children and when I was younger the first job I ever had was babysitting! I was a self-employed music teacher for 7 years and worked at a Primrose school ranging from newborns to 12-year-olds. I am a positive outlook kind of gal and I'm excited to meet the little ones!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a teacher at a Primrose school for a year. I was the lead teacher for the after school program for 5-12 years old and I also worked in the infant room before the kids arrived from school. I have also nannied for two different infants, one into toddlerhood as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I adore going outside for little walks, reading, cooking and playing with just about any toy that exists with kids. I think its great to have options to really get a well rounded childhood experience that also sets them up for healthy life habits.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Keeping a positive attitude mixed in with TONS of patience. They’re new to the whole experience of life and you’re here to guide them. If they dont understand or if they get frustrated, take a break, make sure they are okay, and try-try again!

My experience with special needs children...

While working at the Primrose school, I especially worked well with the two autistic children that we had in the classroom. I would work with their RBTs in order to come up with routines and treatment plans that we could implement throughout their time with me. I have also worked with children who have ADHD as a self employed music teacher.

The most important part about being a nanny...

With my most recent nanny experience, I had the privilege of watching my little one roll over on her own for the first time at only four and a half months!! It was incredible and we were both surprised. Afterwards we made some valentines day cards for her extended family bu making hearts out of her footprints! It was a wonderful day.
