The most important part of being a nanny is to treat the children you care for with sincerity and care. Children ages 2-7 are in a crucial stage of development. Its important to encourage creativity, communication, and curiosity. Treating children with respect and showing genuine interests in their thoughts and daily lives is an absolute must.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked as a student assistant in a special needs classroom for three years. The students had a variety of disabilities including down syndrome, autism, epilepsy, and hearing loss. Three students I worked with were also non-verbal. I deeply treasure the time I spent with these students. I formed very strong bonds of friendship and care with all of them.
