Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’m a licensed school social worker with 15+ years working with children and families. I’ve worked as a school-based therapist supporting children with disabilities, a community school coordinator serving students and families, and a summer camp director overseeing youth programs. I’ve also led youth programs internationally and have extensive experience with children of all ages, including those with complex needs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time with kids by following their interests and giving them plenty of room to be their own wonderfully unique selves. I’m just as happy playing soccer in the yard as I am sitting at the kitchen table crocheting, painting, making friendship bracelets, baking something unnecessarily complicated, or cataloging a very serious Pokémon/card collection. We might build forts, play board games, read, do puzzles, explore a new park, have a dance party, make up ridiculous games, go on little adventures, or turn an ordinary afternoon into a whole imaginary world. I love encouraging creativity, curiosity, independence, and those random passions that kids can become extremely enthusiastic about. My goal is to be the kind of caregiver who joins in rather than dictates the fun—while also being someone kids can count on for patience, encouragement, and a good sense of humor. Basically, if your child is excited about it, I’m probably willing to learn about it too.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part of being a nanny is earning trust—not just from the parents, but from the child, too. Parents are trusting you with the person who matters most to them, and kids are trusting you with their time, their feelings, and their little world. I want families to know that I’ll be dependable, communicative, and respectful of their parenting, while kids know they can be themselves around me and feel safe, heard, and cared for. To me, the best nanny relationship is one where everyone feels like they can genuinely trust you to show up, follow through, and have their back.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive professional experience supporting children and teens with disabilities and complex needs. My experience includes working with students on the spectrum, emotional disabilities, ADHD, behavioral and mental health challenges, and complex medical needs. I’ve provided school-based therapy, supported students through IEPs and special education services, and worked closely with families, teachers, and other providers. I’m comfortable adapting to different communication styles, sensory needs, learning styles, behaviors, and levels of independence, as well as supporting children through transitions and big emotions. My approach is patient, strengths-based, and child-centered: I want kids to feel understood and accepted while also encouraging their confidence, independence, and individuality.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite memories comes from my time as a teen camp director. Our campers would head out on 10+ day backpacking trips, and I had a tradition of having fresh cookies waiting for them when they returned. One trip, I was sick and couldn’t be there to make them. When the kids got back, they surprised me by making the cookies themselves using the recipe I had taught them. It was such a small thing, but after spending so much time helping them become more independent, it meant a lot to see them turn around and take care of me.
