More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In highschool I worked in a preschool, primarily with infants and toddlers. Prior to my Nanny position I worked at a preschool with pre-k age groups for a few months. I also have volunteered at every church I attended for the last 25 years working in their children's ministry. Those ages were anywhere from infant to middle school. Currently, I assist my husband on Sundays who is the middle and high school ministry director at our church.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to find ways to teach and engage their minds throughout each day. Whether its imaginative play, games, motor skill development, reading, arts, etc. I love finding ways for each child to grow, learn, discover and have fun!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is integrating with the family. Understanding the whole family dynamic and working well within that understanding. Each child and family is different. My role is to offer not only care for the child, but be supportive of the needs of the family.
My experience with special needs children...
I delivered focused and loving care for an autistic and developmentaly delayed child. She was 1 when I started, and was 3 when I left. Alongside her, I cared for her baby brother, who just turned 1 when I left. I helped her learn to crawl, walk and run, dance and feed herself as well as went through her prescribed PT and OT exercises with her. She loved music, reading books and nature. She will always hold a special place in my heart. (Her brother too.)
The most important part about being a nanny...
Whenever the child reaches or learns a new thing. Its always exciting!
A very fond memory I have is, after I'd been away for a few days with a cold, upon returning, I sat by her bed while she was still sleeping. When she opened her eyes, she stood up on her bed and jumped into my arms. It made my heart soar!
