My name is Meg and I have worked with the same family for the last 8 years so I have a plethora of experience with children of all ages, as well as loyalty. I am comfortable with animals and light housekeeping. I consider myself active and engaging. I like to keep a daily structure using activities and healthy habits. I have a two year old daughter named Alice who would be joining me for work. She is very well socialized, having grown up with previous families children. I find that bringing her with me is both safer for her but also a good way to provide controlled socialization in a time of great concern germ-wise in the world. What better way to provide friendship for your child than with another child in a low key home environment? I like to think of it as a built in playdate for both children. After all, games and crafts and adventures are more fun with a friend!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have two years of AmeriCorps experience working in both a daycare and high school setting. I have also worked with children ages 11 through infancy providing a variety of age appropriate activities.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Most of all, I enjoy arts and crafts, especially holiday related ones. I am not one to shy away from finger paints, glitter, homemade slime, feathers, googly eyes, etc. I also have a true love of reading, both chapter books aloud, but also picture books in full character voice. I have adult references of course, but my previous children will tell you I'm the quickest Dr. Seuss reader around. I enjoy baking with the children as well. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as playgrounds, soccer, catch, chalk, scavenger hunt walks, and adventures to the zoo.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about nannying for me is becoming a safe haven for a child. I have raised all five of my other children as though they were my own, and now that I have my own, I cannot imagine dropping her or any of them off to a person who is not warm and comfortable to them. It truly takes a village to raise a child and to have someone in that village that the children cannot run to is inexcusable. It is so important to me that I add to the safety, comfort, and memory making of the children in my care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When child number 4 was learning to talk he could not pronounce my name properly. The first time he tried to say my name he called me Mess and it stuck fabulously. My constant energy and whirlwind personality make it a bit true (though not in a negative sense.) Not only do the children still call me that but it has moved on to the adult family members and extended family as well. You can imagine the looks I got when I did school drop offs and the kids would say, "Oh that's not my mom; that's my Mess!"
