Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy activities that benefit a child’s long term growth and health. Fun activities that help a child learn to self regulate their emotions or perhaps an outdoor nature immersion that helps calm and center a child.
I prefer that education be fun for the child. For example, fractions are fun to learn when baking a cake or cutting into an apple.
I believe that all children are unique to themselves and that it takes time to learn a child’s learning style as well as what each child benefits from to be successful in the goals their parents have for them.
I enjoy incorporating the following into my childcare routines (dependent on the individual cuile): music, dance, physical activity, sensory experiences such as finger painting, outdoor activities, nature education, self regulation, open expression of emotions, cultural experiences both within and out of their own culture, and a variety of other activities to expand a child’s senses and capacity to retain knowledge.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Supporting parents in raising their children according to their desires while best meeting the needs of the child(ren).
My experience with special needs children...
I have raised my own children with a variety of special needs both including diagnosis such as autism but also with significant health issues as well. I was raised in a family with special needs. I focused on special needs in my early childhood education as well as in my continuing education. I volunteered as an IEP advocate for the child and parents in the public school system. I was the Special Needs Coordinator for a homeschool group after creating the position so all students shared equally in activities and outings. I sat on the board of A Kids Night Out and assisted with their events.
Due to my extensive experience in working with adults and children with special needs, my home became a place for children with unique needs to come stay when they were unable to do so other places safely.
I am experienced in the following although this is not a full list: autism, mental illness, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, non-verbal, paralysis, feeding tubes, variety of medical.
