I was a Middle School Math teacher and Athletic Coordinator for a Charter School in Temple. I have my Master's in Education and Curriculum with a minor in Psychology and Math. Prior to being an Educator, I was Director of my own in-home Daycare for 25 years.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being silly and making up songs to learn the basics. Outside play is the best. I will teach everything and more that is needed to start Kindergarten. I love to establish a routine and children benefit from it tremendously. I also like to wing it, depending on the children that day.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is making sure the children are taken care of and loved. They are so innocent and eager to learn. It is about knowing when to let loose and when to stand your ground. Patience is one of the most important things to have. Kids need to be able to explore and throwing fits are a necessary part of growing up, its how its handled and dealt with that matters.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for mentally challenged middle schoolers, abused babies and Autistic children. My son is Autistic and is 17 years old. I have learned so much from him and continue to be amazed at what he can do.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There are to many to list. I love when they first see me in the morning and smile so brightly while running to me. Sitting around the circle singing silly songs and getting all the hugs.
