A little bit about me

I have served as a public school educator/counselor for 32 years (mostly high school and middle school). I have a masters degree in psychology. I have two daughters, both are in college. I retired, but have returned to work in a school setting where I have some flexibility in my current job. I am off during the summer so I am available and flexible. I am also looking for a part time opportunity that would allow me to continue working in a job I love, but will allow me to provide a meaningful service to a busy family. I would be interested in before school and after school care for school age children. I could arrive early to assist with the morning routine and then get children to school. In the afternoons I would be available to pick children up from school, and at the end of the school day I could help with after school activities. I will be able to help with homework, meal prep and anything agreed upon that will be of assistance.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In addition to serving as a counselor and teacher, I am a mother. I have adore kids of all ages and I believe this service will help busy parents connect with their children in meaningful ways.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy art, reading, nature and animals. I like sports, dancing and cooking. I have sponsored many clubs including scouts and Civitans (special needs inclusion). I like to play games, and I like music of all genres. Although my experience has been with older students, I enjoy being with children of all ages.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe that proving a consistent, nurturing environment to children is invaluable. Establishing a routine that kids can rely upon and parents trust of utmost importance. As a mother, I would want my children to feel safe, comfortable and cherished. I believe open lines of communication with the parents is essential.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with special needs children and their families within a school setting. I have also served as a unit leader in a camp for children with disabilities during the summer for many years.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a mother has been the most rewarding experience, but I have been blessed to be an educator for 32 years. I like kids of all ages. I have not had the opportunity to serve as a nanny because I have been a full time educator for 32 years, but I have had the honor of being involved with children through work, teaching Sunday School, Girl Scouts, sponsoring organizations such as Junior Civitans and honor societies.
