A little bit about me

I am a hard working and energetic 31 year-old with tons of experience caring for children. Including children with special needs and specializing in autism. I have worked in a pediatric hospital and nannied for families while I was in my child development classes for college. I have worked with 5 families in the last 4 yrs with a mix of ages 3 months to 12 years old (with live-in experience.) I also have four rambunctious siblings I helped raise all now 18-7 in age.
I quit private flight attending start training as a voiceover actor and nannying is a fulfilling way to help accomplish that goal.
My favorite part of being a nanny is getting to be a part of those huge milestones in their development, and pushing kids to see their true capabilities by empowering them to feel like they are capable of so much more than they feel they can do.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In high school I did a child care ROP class, where I worked in a running child care for a 280 hours. I was also a child development assistant director at a pediatric hospital, called totally kids, For about a year and a 1/2.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love sensory play. My autism allows me to really get into this.

Another of my favorite things to do with young children, especially if they're not attending school yet or are on break, is themes for the week or the day. (Ex: Orange day so we're going to wear orange, eat orange, Do some sort of craft with orange etc.)

I also really love helping kids reach developmental monuments. Especially if they might be a little behind or are struggling... (Sitting, standing, potty training etc.)
Helping to empower and encourage them to push themselves and believe that they can Do all of the things that they feel like they absolutely can't but that we know are essential life skills they will continue to use and build upon over time..

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is that you can trust that I have your back. I'm there to help your life run a little bit more smoothly and, hopefully, hwlp your lices run a little bit easier for you and your household.

I also have a care.com profile with testimonials and can provide many reachable references you can contact.

My experience with special needs children...

I was the activities coordinator of the child development department in small a pediatric hospital called Totally Kids. It's a 28-bed hospital that holds only children newborn to 18 years old. Each child is required to posess a trach tube and a g-tube in order to qualify to receive long-term care in the facility. I volunteered there for almost a years, and after worked there for almost 2 years.

I also spent a lot of time in hospitals around special needs children as I was growing up. My father was in pediatric respiratory therapy and I ended up tagging along much of my upbringing.

More recently, I've had much experience in children with global devlopmental delay and children on the spectrum... Also, having been diagnosed adhd autistic at 30 myself. Which, gives me insight and experience with coaping with many of the signs and symptoms in my own life, as well as my ability to help others apply these skills and be understanding if the difficulties they struggle with daily.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was with a 7 month old preemie who was behind on rolling over and sitting up. In about a month she was rolling to both sides and almost able to stay sitting up on her own. She was a tough little chickie! I was so proud of her.
