Making sure that the kids want you there because you are standing in for their parents which are huge shoes to fill. So you want the kids to want you there and be friends with you as well as respect you.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with special needs kids in a Unified Sports club at my high school all four years and one of my close family friends had Angelman's syndrome so I know how to handle him.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was playing tag with the kids I babysat and tripped on a scooter (no serious injuries at all) but the kids started dying laughing with me and we just had so much fun thinking about it. When the parents came home they looked on the cameras for the video and it was just as hilarious.
