A little bit about me

Hi all! My name is Mia, and I am 22 years old. I am a rising senior at Westmont College completing my B.A in Psychology with a focus on child development. I am looking for a long-term full-time placement with a family and wiling to travel or live-in if needed :). I currently work part-time for UHNW families. My favorite environments to engage with kids are in nature, the kitchen, or an art studio I also have years’ experience in watching kids aged 4-13 for VBS, Sunday school, and summer/winter camp counseling. In addition, I worked with CSEC pre-teens battling addictions, behavioral challenges, and psychiatric illnesses. I hope to open my own clinical practice working with children who come from ACE’s and work towards helping them achieve a confident view of self. In my spare time I like to hike, hammock, camp, play piano, and build sculptures/ceramic vessels. Most of all, I am compassionate, caring, determined, flexible and eager to develop long-term relationships with your family.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for two children/pre-teens with cerebral palsy. One child was mostly independent with behavioral challenges and her brother was completely dependent for care. I took them to go for nature walks and played with puzzles to increase their fine-motor skills and perceptual ability. It was an enriching experience to know how to care for children who communicate very differently than what I was used to. I enjoyed the time we had together to just play and enjoy the simplicities in life.
