I have worked in many daycares/ learning g centers/ schools for students with disabilities since I was 16 to current. Enchanted forest daycare and learning center, center for discovery, acorns to oaks, to name a few. I also attended Dutchess Community College and received my early childhood certificate and I am starting childhood psychology courses online in the spring.

Honestly, love. Loving the children like your own. Being patient, kind, and understanding to their growth and development. Taking the time to offer lots of hugs on hard days and extra laughs everyday. Learning through play is the most important way for any child to learn.

I have helped my grandmother with my disabled uncle since I was little. I have worked with autistic children in many daycares and learning centers. The center for discovery in Monticello is a school for children with developmental and physical disabilities.

There are so many but here are just two that came to mind.
My favorite moments are unplanned learning experiences. One family I was working for had two little boys 4 and 6. They saw all the “helicopter” seeds all over their driveway. I taught them about those seeds and showed them their neat helicopter spiral trick. They sat there for an hour trying to find the highest place to watch them fly. Later that night they were so excited to show their mom and teach her about the why they fly like that and what they can turn into.
Another is when I was working with a 10 month old and he experienced baby sage paint for the first time. It was a beautiful day outside and we set up a cute area where he could just crawl and paint freely in just his diaper. Him and his paper were works of art.
