Hello, my name is Mikaila and I’m a lively and creative 22 year old!

I studied psychology in college, but fell into teaching and childcare after graduation and have loved every minute of it! I love working with toddlers, but have greatly enjoyed my experiences with all age groups.

I’m ideally looking for a full-time position, but I am also open to part-time. I have worked as an au pair in Germany for 10 months and currently work as an after-school teacher for TK and Kindergarten students. I’m also CPR and first aid certified.

My focus is on creating a routine-based environment that your child feels safe in, with plenty of space for creativity and growth. I love doing seasonal crafts, baking, basic science projects, outside games, and fostering independent play. I’m firm but kind and will work with you on any challenges your child may encounter.

One of the sweetest, silliest, and most enthusiastic responses I've seen while working with kids was a result of nail polish. I like painting my nails bright colors and wearing fun earrings when I'm working with kids because it becomes an interactive learning moment with the little ones! When I was an au pair, the youngest of my host kids (19mo) LOVED my nail polish and also happened to love frogs. One day, I surprised her by wearing frog earrings and painting frogs on my nails. Every five minutes (at least), she would grab my hand to stare at the frogs and ask me to show her my earrings. A few weeks and a few nail polish changes later, she was still looking for them every time she saw my hands!
