I’ve done babysitting gigs on the side as I gotten older and I’ve also raised my niece ever since she was a new born because we live in the same house. shes about to turn four this year! I have a big family so taking care of young babies comes naturally to me. I’m also majoring in child development psychology so being in this atmosphere really puts everything in perspective for me.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy going on adventures with them. Being active, teaching them basic things and telling cool stories. Kids are like sponges and grasp everything they see and hear.
The most important part about being a nanny...
For me is there safety and if their comfortable in whatever their doing. With that comes the happiness and fun in it. Making sure all their necessities are met that way I can be at peace of mind.
My experience with special needs children...
My niece has mild autism so she has difficulty communicating and speaking with words. Thankfully I work with her in fun and new ways for her to try to develop her speech and we always have a lot of patience with one another. It’s a constant reassurance that I understand her needs and in return she puts in the effort. Definitely a rewarding feeling.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think one of my favorite moments with them is when they start to recognize you and start building that bond with you back. Let’s me know I’m doing a good job.
