A little bit about me

Hi! I have loved children forever- growing up with 3 siblings much younger than me, I always helped out around the house and with the girls. My senior year of high school I volunteered in two kindergarten classrooms and fell in love with teaching. I am currently a senior in college, taking a gap year to save money, in elementary education and special education. I have my associates in early childhood education. I love hiking, playing sports like soccer, going to the gym and being active, reading, cooking, and being outside! I have experience working with families, babysitting, working in school environments as an aftercare staff member and summer camp thematic teacher, where I created lessons and implemented them for children ages 4-9. We did things such as make slime, create marble runs, make marshmallows using sunlight, and more. I love being hands on, doing fun activities and include the children in things such as cooking!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a babysitter since the age of thirteen- my first experience was with four young children from the ages of 3-7 and I was their babysitter until the age of 16. I have babysat for many other families with many different backgrounds since then. I nannied for two different families, worked at an elementary and preschool for two years, and have my associates in early childhood education. I am studying to get my bachelors in elementary education and special education.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Being outdoors, going on walks, playing with sensory items, science experiments, outdoor science activities, reading, writing, cooking with children fully involved, and more.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to impact an individual child’s life/ view of themselves so much. As a teacher, you focus on many students at once. As a nanny, I’m able to focus so much on individual children and their growth. I find it very important to help a child, as a nanny, become independent and courageous in this world. Someone that speaks up for themselves, believes in themselves, and trusts themselves among many other things. I think it’s amazing how self-sufficient children can become while relying on adults when they need to to observe, grow, and learn for themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

I am currently 16 credits away from my Bachelor’s degree in Special Education/Elementary education. I have had 3 student teaching experiences that have involved special needs children, one being an integrated kindergarten classroom with a full time Special Education Co-teacher. I have also worked as a teacher in a preschool, at Pine Hills Elementary School in Albany, and worked professionally with special needs students in an integrated preschool classroom. I worked at an independent school in Saratoga Springs, where I also had experience working one-on-one with special needs students.
