More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In home, in a child development center at a residential treatment facility, and outdoors in a nature program.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am a big advocate for child led learning and think that we can learn so much from following their lead in interest. I enjoy seeing the world and ideas through the eyes of each individual I work with, and applying what I learn about them to their days and activities. I think outdoor time is also extremely important in development and growth in so many ways, and try to prioritize that time for the children.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience working with children on the spectrum, children with ADHD, children with high behavioral needs, and children that have PTSD. I have worked with children in foster care, infants born prematurely, infants born going through withdrawals, developmentally delayed children, and various children with physical handicaps as well. I have been responsible for ASQ’s, getting children to specialist, surgeries, and doctor appointments as well as therapy. I have also worked along side occupational therapist, physical therapist, behavioral therapist, and psychologist of the children I work with to foster the growth and development of the each child.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many different moments that I appreciate in my time working with children. I think positive self esteem is so important for children to have. Seeing the children after they move on and still having a connection is always a wonderful experience. But the best is seeing children accomplish something they didn’t think was capable. Two of the first examples I can think of are one friend putting his socks on by himself after thinking he couldn’t do it, and another friend being able to control their sensory seeking behaviors in close proximity to others and redirecting their behaviors. Seeing things you have been working with the child on come to fruition , and how proud they get of themselves is always the highlight of the job.
