More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I spent 12 years working in healthcare, including supporting at-risk youth with mental health and addictions, before moving into aquatics in March 2023. Since then, I’ve worked extensively with children and youth from 6 months to 19 years old as a swim instructor, lifesaving instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, and first aid instructor.
For the past 10 months, I’ve also worked as a professional nanny, supporting children with daily routines, meals, outings, play, homework, and family life.
I have extensive experience supporting neurodivergent children and youth, including autism, ADHD, and FASD, and use a calm, trauma-informed approach tailored to the individual child. I’m also a long-standing Scouts Canada volunteer and have taught Standard First Aid for the Canucks Autism Network.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love getting out and actually doing things with kids — swimming, paddle boarding, parks, nature walks, picnics, WildPlay, the zoo, Science World, the aquarium, the capybara farm in Richmond, libraries, and exploring somewhere new.
At home, I’m big on baking, gloriously messy crafts, sensory play, games, reading, and building things out of cardboard. Mess is part of the fun, but so is cleaning it up together — I like involving kids in the whole process in an age-appropriate way.
I’m also a big believer in routine. Having a solid, predictable baseline helps kids feel secure and gives us room to be curious and adventurous within it. My general philosophy is very Magic School Bus: get messy, make mistakes, ask approximately nine million questions, and learn by actually doing things.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part is watching kids grow into themselves and gain confidence in what they can do. Of course they need reassurance and support, but I think of it a little like the “teach a man to fish” proverb — I don’t want to do everything for them, I want to help them discover that they can do hard things themselves.
And it goes both ways. Kids teach me things all the time. I think that childlike wonder matters — being able to become completely absorbed in something tiny, where for that moment it’s the most important thing in the world. I want kids to have space for that, while also feeling secure enough to grow, try, fail, and try again.

My experience with special needs children...
I’ve supported neurodivergent children and youth from infancy through age 19, including autism, ADHD, and FASD, with day-to-day routines, transitions, emotional regulation, sensory needs, communication, and executive-function challenges. That has included breaking tasks into manageable steps, giving extra processing time, using clear and predictable expectations, adapting activities when something becomes overwhelming, and helping children regulate before trying to problem-solve. I’m comfortable with children who need more movement, repetition, structure, or downtime than their peers.
Neurodivergence is also part of my family life — my brother and my son are both autistic (Level 1). I know how exhausting masking can be, and I want kids to feel that home is somewhere they can decompress and simply be themselves.
I’ve also taught Standard First Aid for the Canucks Autism Network, adapting instruction for neurodivergent youth and adults.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Oof, this is hard because there are so many.
Probably one of my favourites was travelling to Phoenix with my last nanny family and staying at Great Wolf Lodge. I spent an entire day doing quests with a wand with their four-year-old — I think we walked about 25,000 steps — and his eyes were huge the whole time. It felt like one of those core-memory days for him.
But I love the smaller moments just as much. Building a fort and hiding in it to read. Watching a difficult swim skill finally click and getting that little “aha!” face. Anytime a baby falls asleep in my arms. Those are the moments I remember.
