More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked in childcare since I was 12 years old and my mom started volunteering me to watch the younger kids while the moms chatted and had adult talk. I honestly never walked away from I have worked in social services, I have worked as a full time teacher, a part time teacher, a babysitter, a nanny, a third parent and everything in between. I gravitate towards being a nanny because I love the ability to bond with a family and really help to build a supportive structure for children to grow from long term and a great extra set of hands for parents to trust and turn to when they can’t be there themselves.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am the maker of everyday magic and I love a membership museums, water parks, zoos, library cards you name it. The world is a myriad of wonderful experiences and I want children to have as many as possible. Reading is such a huge part of my life and who I am as an educator and a role model and helping kids to find the magic in reading and exploring new worlds is so special in my opinion. I think everyday can be special even if it’s just because we made homemade applesauce together and I sneakily taught some cooking science. I also love art and sensory play and just getting messy for the fun of it (with proper clean up implementation of course).

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is obviously the children.
My philosophy is everyday I show up to these children as though I am auditioning for them to choose me in the future. As it stands when I meet children it’s their parents who choose me and connect with or connect with the school I work at and it’s almost entirely outside of the child’s control. I want to make our experiences together consistent loving and full of mutual respect and love so that when it is their choice I am still a person they want around. I feel I have been successful in that venture since kiddos I watched in 2013 still choose to talk to me even in high school which is such an honor and a privilege in my opinion.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with children who have special needs a few times in life. Children in centers who need a nebulizer or children I have nannied who are on the spectrum. I am also familiar and comfortable with allergies and specialty diets. I feel confident and capable taking care of any child with the proper tools and information.

The most important part about being a nanny...

This is the hardest question on here by far! I have been doing it for so long and have so many amazing memories from so many fantastic children. I think the one that is the most clear currently is holding my nanny kids at aloha safari as they saw a giraffe for the very first time in their lives and were able to feed it a carrot and pet its nose. It was so precious to watch them experience and fall in love with nature and understand that the animals on wild kratts and in the magic school bus are real and among us not just in books and Tv.
Another favorite nanny moment is getting my one of my children her first Lego set! We have done many more since then (over 15) but that first one where she fell in love with building and was so proud of her accomplishment and that she was cool like me (I have many many sets of my own) and that just is what it’s really all about. Building connection and a love that carry’s them the rest of their lives
