I most recently worked at Kennebec Pediatrics, as a Certified Medical Assistant, where I practiced medication administration, immunizations, nebulizers and recording measurements and vitals on infants, toddlers and adolescents!
I was also a nanny when I was about 17-18 years old, where I babysat 2 children, ages 3 and 5 a few days out of the week. That position included cooking for the kids, cleaning up after messes, potty training, lots of trips to the park, and teaching how to play fair and nice!

Paying attention to small details, making sure you’re able to notice anything that may be off. As well as keeping things fun at the same time as keeping them safe!
My experience with special needs children...
Working at a doctors office gave me plenty of experience with this! I always enjoyed my time with special needs children, as I think all you need is a little extra patience in order to truly understand them as individuals. It’s a hard thing to do, but once you achieve that connection, it’s so rewarding!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment has to be when I asked the 3 year old boy I babysat at the time if he wanted to go outside to play in the snow, and he said yes, so we geared up and headed out the door. When we got out there, he noticed it had just snowed, immediately grabbed his little toy shovel and started shoveling me a path to my truck. Love him to pieces- The sweetest baby!

When the kids were back in school, I worked in the toddler/infant/pre-k classrooms as a float, but rotated back into the after school room after school dismissal. I would make sure they spent time on homework as well as engaging in outdoor play to get out their energy and exercise!
Some of my other duties at this job included: lunch and snack preparation and cleaning/sanitizing the building.
