A little bit about me

Hi I’m Naomi, a happy, caring, energetic 18-year-old. I graduated from high school in May 2020 with a 3.9 GPA. I played volleyball, golf, and participated in track and field. I also had the opportunity to serve in leadership for four years in my youth program at church, most of that spent as president of my age group.

Supervising my younger brother and babysitting various ages in the last six years have given me years of experience tending and nurturing children. Influencing them as they grow and progress is rewarding to me. I have been told that I have a natural ability in positively persuading the younger generation.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I had the privilege of participating in my school's Sub 4 Santa program. I was assigned to help a child choose presents for their family. The experience gave me a grateful feeling that I could help a child and see the joy on her face.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

playing tag, jumping on the tramp, playing on the playground, swimming, playing sports, playing with animals, taking nature walks, making crafts and simple snacks together, reading, painting or coloring, and any form of creative play.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is being reliable, trustworthy, and honest. Helping children to feel comfortable, loved, and happy is an absolute. One of the best ways to accomplish these things is by establishing a sense of security and stability for children which can be accomplished through dedicated guidance and leadership on my part.

My experience with special needs children...

I was able to peer tutor for kids with special needs for three years in high school. It was one of my favorite experiences in high school because I developed greater patience, knowledge of varied disabilities, and made new friends.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My first babysitting job, I was in charge of four boys under the age of 5. It was going fine until it came time to change the toddler's diaper. Changing the diaper was no problem; all went smoothly because I had changed many diapers for my baby brother. However, this little fella started crying after his diaper change was done. I tried everything I could think of to figure out what he needed: distracting him with toys, singing and dancing to him, acting silly, but nothing was working. He gave me no indication of what he needed. I was at a loss. Finally, after 20 minutes of his desperation, the four-year-old brother calmly mentioned that his little brother might want his shirt back on. I had left off his messy t-shirt so he could finish eating. Sure enough, that was the simple solution. Who would've thought that the big brother would solve the mystery! Looking back, the story was funny but I learned the importance of really coming to know each individual child & their particular needs.
