More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a teacher/tutor for 1 1/2 year formally and 2 years freelancing. I have experience with young children of the age of 5 years old and above from these periods. Before that, being the older sibling/cousin in my family, I am used to taking care of babies/toddlers, not to mention multiple children at a time (From both work and personal experiences). I tend to focus a lot on educational activities and personally think it is elementary to stimulate children to learn through activities they are interested in (A method learned from the teaching/tutoring background).
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Both indoor and outdoor activities are extremely important for the young ones throughout their development while being well aware of any limitations or restrictions they might have. I tend to work around the activities that children are interested in and try to stimulate them to try new hobbies (For an example, if a child is interested in sports and wants to know more about soccer, we will find and appropriate environment for that, since is an outdoor activity, and start working on it. The same would work for a child interested in painting, since we would both start working on little projects that fit the environment and that are according to the kid’s age).
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is carrying for the children while respecting their opinions, likes and boundaries, including their parents’ as well. Helping them develop healthy hobbies which are a part of their personal interests is an amazing way to also introduce them to activities they are not so fond of (For an example, if a kid has to develop their reading abilities, it is very interesting to help them while using some source they like. Once, a student of mine said they did not like English at all, so I introduced her to a book that told the story of one of her favorite movies. This helped me to get her attention and teach her through a less exhausting way).
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the funniest moments I had while babysitting was one time when I had about 6 children in the house (All parents were out having group gathering) and they asked me to build a fort so that they could watch a movie while having a camping experience. With my best knowledge of engineering (Which wasn’t and still is not a lot), I asked them to wait patiently for a few seconds on a line according to their clothes colors (We arranged the line using the order of the rainbow colors, so it made them focus for a few minutes on organizing it by themselves) and I built the fort using a bedsheet, the couch and two chairs on the sides.
