More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have more than eight years of professional experience working with children in private homes, homeschool settings, schools, forest-school programs, and summer camps. My private-family experience has included providing attentive daily childcare, planning educational and recreational activities, preparing children’s meals, driving to school and activities, managing routines and schedules, organizing children’s belongings, and supporting families with child-related household needs. My background as an educator allows me to naturally incorporate learning, creativity, outdoor exploration, and age-appropriate developmental activities into everyday life. I have experience caring for multiple children and a wide range of ages and personalities, including neurodivergent children. I’m comfortable working independently, communicating closely with parents, and adapting my approach to each family’s routines, values, and parenting style.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love getting children outdoors and exploring! Some of my favorite activities include hiking, nature walks, gardening, parks, beach days, museums, zoos, and local adventures. I also enjoy arts and crafts, science experiments, reading, storytelling, music, cooking and baking with children, imaginative play, games, and educational projects based on their interests. I especially enjoy child-led activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and independence. I believe learning can happen everywhere, and I love turning everyday experiences into fun opportunities to discover something new.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, trusting connection with a child. When children feel genuinely seen, understood, respected, and cared for, they have the confidence to explore, learn, make mistakes, and become more independent. A nanny has the privilege of being an important part of a child’s everyday life, so I believe in providing consistency, warmth, patience, and guidance while honoring each child’s unique personality. Just as importantly, I value building a strong partnership with parents so that the child experiences a supportive and consistent environment.
My experience with special needs children...
I have professional experience supporting neurodivergent children with a range of needs, including autism spectrum differences, ADHD, anxiety, and twice-exceptional learners. In one classroom, I worked closely with four neurodivergent children simultaneously, adapting activities, communication, routines, and expectations to meet their individual needs. I also have hands-on family experience helping care for my sister’s neurodivergent twins. My approach is patient, calm, respectful, and individualized, with an emphasis on understanding each child’s unique strengths, challenges, communication style, and sensory needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny memories was hiking with two little ones, ages three-and-a-half and five, when we unexpectedly came across a field filled with all kinds of mushrooms. We stopped to explore, noticing the different shapes, colors, and sizes, and the children were completely fascinated. It felt magical, almost as though we had stepped into another little realm hidden in the forest. I loved watching their sense of wonder and sharing that spontaneous discovery with them. Moments like that are one of the reasons I love working with children—ordinary adventures can suddenly become extraordinary.
