A little bit about me

I grew up with a Nanny, in Oakland, CA, until the age of 10. I adored Nanny, as we affectionately called her, and her delicious homemade cookies at Holiday time.
One of my first positions my second year at college, was as a Pre-School Assistant, where I became the Nanny to 1 1/2 year old Brad. Brad stole my heart with his warm, ET-shaped eyes, as we sang our ABC’s on the beach in Hawaii.
Until this past November, I cared for my elderly Mom who was on hospice. So grateful to have shared that amazing journey.
For 8 blessed years, I parented my great nieces who had been in foster care. It was a blessing for all of us.
2 years ago, I married the love of my life, who is another big kid! We are on an adventure right wherever we are!

I was a celebrity Maitre d’ on Miami Beach and featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine. I also Invented the famous cocktail, the Cosmopolitan Cocktail (Cosmo), February [phone number hidden] years ago! Don’t worry, NO Cosmos on the menu for the little ones.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In 2008, I got my 2 great nieces out of foster care. I was living in the Sonoma Wine Country at the time, running my private guesthouse. I walked away from my life, to become a first time, single Mom, to these little ones in need.
I’ve enjoyed parenting and being a buddy to my friends’ kids over the years. To see the kindness and confidence coming from them, has been rewarding.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing their favorite games, going on walks, singing, playing dress-up, reading in fun voices. Just finding joy in each day that the parents have scheduled.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Aside from happy children, the most important part of being a Nanny is trust, discretion, communication and care.

My experience with special needs children...

When I was a Pre-School Assistant Teacher, Kathleen, a five year old with Cerebral Palsy, was a new student. I was not trained to teach Kathleen and was not assigned to her.
Kathleen was having a hard time one day and I was able to reach her and communicate with her. To everyone’s amazement, especially Kathleen’s Mom, Kathleen was then assigned to me and we became fast friends. We would leave the premises after working on her motor or cognitive skills and we would walk to the Rose Garden everyday.
Our Spirits were aligned beautifully somehow. She was lovely.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was teaching Pre-school, we had a new little one, and his Mom, who came to observe our school. He was out playing with the other kids and when he saw me at the door, he took his baby steps all the way over to me. I knelt down to introduce myself, and he gave me the sweetest hug and kiss. It was Love at first sight, and I soon became Brad’s Nanny.
