I have worked in a summer camp for 3 years. I also have experience in child care with caring for the younger aged children in my old school. I made a positive impact on them and built trust with them, I still see till today.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I like to be active as I know children are very active. I would play sports with them, or teach them how to dance. As well I would use the imagination to help create games that are both fun and safe.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny, is as I have stated before is trust. If a child trust you they will open up and listen. However you have to build it. I does not not come easily, and building trust helps with comfort and familiarity as well.
My experience with special needs children...
I used to work with a child in kindergarten that would not stop crying. I learned that if you gave into their crying it would continue, but if you explained or distracted them, it would help them divert their attention to something other than what they were upset about.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment when I was a camp counselor was seeing the campers smiling because I would engage and play with them. They enjoyed and allowed for me to build a mutual trust relationship with them. They had trust with me and enjoyed my company as a counselor, that they still remember who I am after I graduated that school.
