My name is Nikki! I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, a bachelors degree in Writing, as well as 5 years experience in teaching (both in public schools and daycare schools) and 2. 5 years experience in nannying. I have a passion for helping children to reach their happiest and highest potential through exploration and play! I also have a knack for teaching toddlers colors, numbers, shapes, the alphabet, social skills, etc. in creative, fun, and patient ways. I love animals, books, music, arts and crafts, and cooking/baking! I can help prepare meals and/or do laundry and light housekeeping! I have a reliable car, and I love taking my nannykiddos on adventures to museums, indoor play areas, parks, and other activities! Kids that I have worked with have moved onto Montessori schools by around age 3, and I love being able to help them become school-ready!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a teacher in NJ working with a variety of age groups. I’ve taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th/5th grade in public schools.

I have taught in daycare-type schools. I was a pre-k teacher for 1 year before switching careers to become a nanny.

I have been a nanny for 3 years. I’ve worked with two infants and 4 toddlers in my time as a nanny (not all at the same time). All of the nanny positions I’ve held have been nanny-shares working with 2 families at a time.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love everything artsy! I absolutely love doing arts and crafts in creative ways with the kiddos I care for. Most of the artwork I make with children has some aspect of educational value, and I love to bring in teaching techniques in these ways!

I love to read, so reading stories to nanny kiddos is a top fave of mine, too!

I also have a love for animals, and I like taking kiddos to various farms, zoos, aquariums, and places we can see animals.

Music is a big part of my life. I love getting kids dancing and singing and finding their own love for music.

Taking kiddos out to a variety of play places in the area- museums, play gyms, libraries, parks, nature preserves, you name it!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important parts about being a nanny for me are:
-loving children that are NOT mine as if they WERE mine; giving them love and building trust
-keeping kids safe, but not JUST keeping them safe…making sure they understand what “safe” means as well as why things are unsafe.
-having patience and being gentle

The most important part about being a nanny...

Any teaching moment with a nanny kiddo where we’re working on a new skill, and I can see the moment it just “clicks”, those are my favorite! After weeks of working on colors with the 1.5 year old I was working with, when he finally matched all the colors, he was so excited, and those “a-ha” moments are what I live for!
