I volunteer and donate at a Nonprofit called Gary Gives Non Profit that provides children a chance to give their time and helping hands to those experiencing homelessness in California. I chaperone the children while they walk around different neighborhoods and I also participate in the activities with the children.

My experience with special needs children...
I cared for the cutest 4 year old boy. He was such a sweetheart but also had behavioral disorders. He would bite and hit himself especially when he didn’t get what he wanted. I was able to talk with him sometimes and have him express his feelings to me and get him to stop but his parents told me to let him keep doing it till he stops. I’ve never agreed with this method because children are often very misunderstood and can’t always express themselves. We should ask questions to get children to understand their feelings better.

Watching the kiddo ride a bike with training wheels then teaching them how to ride without them! Wiping the tears and letting them know to never quit at anything they do!
