More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve been working in the childcare field for years on and off, summed up about 3 years total. I started babysitting at 16 and babysat privately on and off until I was 18. That's where I got my years of elementary age experience. Then I worked as a Lead Toddler Teacher and Daycare Floater in the Nashville area for about a year. I mostly worked with children from 18mo-4yr old, but I do have infant experience as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

There are so many! I love to introduce a multitude of different activities and feel out what piques their interest. Some examples are painting, drawing, sports, cooking, reading, writing, storytelling, singing, dancing, building, collecting, science experiments, acting, and more!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing to do is work with the family. I consider myself a babysitter/nanny, but more importantly I consider myself a parent support person. If the nanny and parents work as a team, it creates the best possible environment to foster growth.

My experience with special needs children...

I have only worked with a few special needs children, but I am a very patient person, and I love to learn. Currently, I have only worked with two children on the autism spectrum, both relatively low support needs. I have also worked with one child who had an NG tube. I have never worked with a deaf child before, but I have a slight understanding of ASL and I plan to grow in that area.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Seeing children experience things for the first time! Not your typical first step or first word. Things like seeing or feeling snow for the first time, seeing new animals or insects, learning new things.
