More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a camp counselor at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus, and I was a paraprofessional at the Ohio State School for the Deaf.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy reading, arts & crafts, story time, playing games, and cooking & baking.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny is being nurturing and supportive of the children in your care. I also think it's important to be flexible, organized, and to think quickly on your feet.
My experience with special needs children...
When I worked as a paraprofessional at the School for the Deaf I worked with children who were completely deaf, hearing impaired, and along with the hearing impairment there were some speech/language delays. I also work with a non-profit organization called the National Federation of the Blind, helping to advocate for blind and visually impaired children across Ohio.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I asked a kid what he liked about himself, and he said "I am kind," and then "I love everything about me."
This same kid, when asked what a comic book worm named Wormy ate, explained that he liked to eat "vegetable soup, like a baby."
I love seeing kids gain confidence and learn new skills. I think literacy is important and I love reading stories with children. Early literacy is a subject I am passionate about, and children ages 0-5 need 2,500 hours of exposure to literature.
