More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have taken care of children primarily in large groups. As a part-time teaching fellow at the Mississippi Museum of Art for the last year, I deal with children from kindergarten to high school. I have also worked as a camp counselor for the McMullan Writers' Workshop, primarily working with middle school and high school students.
While in middle school and high school, I babysat my younger sister and took care of a few of my parents' friends children, the youngest being a year old. During this time, I also participated as a camp counselor for 2nd graders and 3rd graders during two Vacation Bible Schools at Galloway United Methodist Church.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
With children, I love to read to them, paint and draw, watch movies with them, sing them to sleep, swim, and play at the park.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a nanny requires patience and empathy. Both help build trust and can help with managing children's challenging behaviors. They also ensure a safe and nurturing environment for the children. Having empathy helps us see things from the child's perspective or at least helps us understand that they are still growing and learning what we already know. Having patience helps us handle difficult predicaments like tantrums without becoming upset. When using both, nannies can create positive environments for the children where they feel safe and supported.
The most important part about being a nanny...
In 8th grade, my parents had friends and their children over one evening, they entrusted me to take care of their youngest who was maybe 5 or 6 at the time. After dinner, while the parents were outside chatting, the child and I settled in on the couch and started watching How to Train Your Dragon. Maybe 30 minutes in, he began to fall asleep with his head on my shoulder and it was so adorable.
