The most important part about being a nanny...

The kids are what matter most when you are a nanny. Parents are depending on you to be responsible for their children’s lives while they are unable to. I enjoy being able to help children become the best versions of themselves through daily activities encouraging problem solving, patience, responsibility, and compassion.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have any experience with special needs kids however I have a abundance of patience and willingness to learn. I do have experience with children who have Autism/ADHD/ADD/ Attachment disorder

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a child care worker was when a four-year-old girl was having an emotional crisis over not being able to do something in particular. I can’t quite remember the experience, but I sat down with her and held her tiny little hand while we went through breathing exercises. I explained that her emotions were valid and that I understood how hard it was to feel such big feelings in such a small body. It was okay to feel emotions, but remember to breathe through them. Once she was able to calm down, I asked her to come up with two other solutions to her problem that were simply different ways of going about it. Her eyes lit up, and she immediately started coming up with ideas. I love this story because every day after that, it took more effort than others some days , but she developed problem-solving skills and would be so proud of herself afterwards.

LaMya R. - Seeking Work in Columbus

Babysitter Available in Columbus, MS: LaMya R.

I am a 17-year-old junior in high school. While I do not have formal babysitting experience, I have cared for my five younger siblings over the years, which has given me strong hands-on experience with children of different ages. I really enjoy being around kids and helping take care of them. I am interested in starting my babysitting journey because I would like to gain more experience working with children. In the future, I plan to become a pediatric nurse, so I believe babysitting will be a great first step toward my career goals.
