Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My experience in child care began when I had my first babysitting job taking care of 2 amazing children in Nigieria (6,10) and continued to be their nanny for 2 years. When I moved to Canada, I took care of 3 children (a set of twins and one more child) who were all in the age range of 1-5. I enjoyed this time so much but unfortunately it came to an end because I had to move away for school. While schooling, I became a tutor for mostly high school students, covering English, Mathematics and Science subjects. I enjoyed this so much that when an opportunity to volunteer in early childhood education presented itself, I simply could not hold back! These are some relevant examples of my child care experience and I am able to provide references if needed as well! ☺️
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy playing outdoor games, taking walks and going to the park with children as I believe that their experience with the Earth around them is a crucial element in their growth. This does not mean, however, that I do not love indoor games as well. Crafts, board games and playing pretend are my favorite things to do with children as this shows how imaginative children are and develops their thinking and understanding skills.

The most important thing to me as a nanny is the child’s safety and well-being. This involves physical, emotional, environmental and even psychological well-being. Another thing that matters a lot to me is building reliability and consistency. This is one of the major reasons I was heartbroken when I had to move away for school. Being dependable helps create a stable and secure environment for the child which is crucial for their development.
Finally but certainly not the least, respecting the family’s rules and values is of utmost importance and concern to me. Respecting the family’s parenting styles ensures consistency in the children’s upbringing.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments as a nanny happened with a little girl. She had just turned four and was incredibly shy, often clinging to her parents and playing with only her twin sister when we were outside. We worked together on building her confidence through fun activities like pretending we were trying to make new friends and lots of encouragement.
One afternoon, we were all at the park. She spotted a group of children playing a game and her sister had gone to join them while she hesitated. I gently encouraged her, reminding her of the times we had pretended to make friends. After a moment of contemplation, she approached the group. She was welcomed with open arms and soon was playing with her new friends and her sister. As I watched her, I felt a swell of pride and joy.
It was in that moment I truly realized the profound impact a nanny can have on a child's life and it reinforced my passion for nurturing and supporting children in their growth.
