Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
As I said in my bio, I am the oldest of three. My siblings are 13, and 8 so the large age gap between us definitely gave me experience! My brother is 15 years younger than me, and was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare cranio-facial deformity that made his first few months of life very challenging as well as offered different challenges through the years. I babysat some in high school, and worked at a direct support professional taking care of individuals living with disabilities. I am a stay at home mom of my beautiful 7 month old daughter. I love being a mom and caring for her, and would love the opportunity to care for other children as well.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
This is an odd question to me, just because I am the person who is willing to do anything! If a child wanted to go on a hike, pack your bags and let's go! On the other hand I would be more than happy to relax at home. I am pretty outgoing so that is a plus!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure the child is loved and validated while providing necessary things to grow.
My experience with special needs children...
My brother was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome and he holds a very special place in my heart. Trenton is my best friend, and has climbed many mountains through the years. With his syndrome there is a smaller airway, which at a young age made feeding and respiratory issues higher. My friends and family joke and say I am his second mother, because I would do anything for this little boy! He is legally deaf, and once I found out I took American Sign Language course through a community college to help my family with transitioning to ASL. He has a hearing aid, and prefers to speak, so I also have experience on working with children in speech!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have never been a nanny, but I was a babysitter for a while through high school. My favorite memories include taking kiddos to the pool, and snuggling up to watch movies together.
