A little bit about me

Hello! I am a 22 year old who has always had a great time spending time with kids of all ages! I have had the privilege of leading children's church camps in places like Belize and Mexico. I am currently working at an Elementary school with 1st and 2nd grader and it has been so much fun! I also have a 7 year old brother who has taught me so much on how to handle young kids. He is a tough teacher, I must say LOL. I am thankful for all the various opportunities I get to further my experience.

My experience with special needs children...

I have young family members who have different neurological disabilities, and I have learned so much from them. I have a pretty good understanding of their likes and dislikes. I notice that many people are often afraid to interact with them, mostly because they simply don't know what they can and can't do, but I try my best to inform those around me. They love human interaction and are just like you and I!

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was taking care of a medium group of 7-10-year-olds in the country of Belize, I was sharing a story with them and was severely dehydrated. I had a partner with me, but unfortunately he came unprepared and so I had to essentially present the story alone. I was trying to stay very energetic with little to no water in my system in very humid 90 degree heat in a community center with no A.C. or ventilation system. The kids that I was teaching lived in the small village of Teakettle and they were all living in poverty level homes. Most times they would be asking for food, WATER, money, and the clothes we were wearing, but this day I was beginning to feel faint and was getting the cold sweats when a small child came to me and offered me the rest of her bag of water. I was so moved due to their lack of resources and her willingness to share the little she had with me. Her kindness and selflessness nearly brought me to tears.
