A little bit about me

I am currently looking for more fulfilling work. I have a 3 year old and found I really enjoy being with kids. I have fun during playtime and also have an easy time remaining patient and calm during tantrums. My style of caregiving would follow my style of parenting - which is to keep a consistent routine that includes mealtime, lessons, playtime, and clean up. As far as handling things like hitting and screaming, I like to address what their feeling first. Then during a calm moment, talk about what could be done next time instead. I don't try to redirect or jump in to fix things in order to prevent a tantrum. ex: My kid used to meltdown if their stack of blocks fell over and would scream for me to rebuild it - I wouldn't. Instead I would simply ask, "Are you feeling frustrated because you're blocks fell over?" and offer a hug. Once calmed down, I'd suggest they rebuild it on their own. Now my kid likes to knock the blocks over on purpose and exclaim, "Oops, time to rebuild."
