A little bit about me

I'm currently a college student pursuing a degree in civil engineering. Some of my past time hobbies include playing board games, road cycling, hiking and playing table tennis. When it comes to table tennis, many new players are intimidated it, but I love showing other the ropes and introducing them to the sport.

A big part of my hobby is spending time with toddlers and kids, so I wanted to also take this time to share why I enjoy being a nanny so much. Growing up, the one thing I’ve come to realize and be more and more thankful of is how much love my parents poured into my life in all the years that they’ve raised me. They’ve done so much for me in the way of going above and beyond to sacrifice and build my life up. I want to be able to share that experience and help them grow, learn and explore just as much. Working with kids is definitely very different than walking with adults. However, I enjoy being imaginative and thinking outside the box to make it work with them.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I would say a big part of my enjoyment in working with kids comes from tending to my church’s Sunday children ministry and during our summer vacation Bible schools. I would say I’m most familiar with taking care of children ranging from toddlers all the way to sixth graders. A big part of being a teacher in children ministry is developing lesson plans, assisting with fundraising events, and leading children in education activities. When it comes to vacation Bible school, it’s always been a blast because I got to take on so many versatile roles from being an MC, to leading kids in crafts, storytelling, outdoor activities and leading as a small group leader.

Back in my first two years of high school, I had the pleasure of working under a nonprofit organization called Mai Am Mai Tam that assists in providing necessary medicines and provisions to a targeted group of HIV positive children and mothers in order to ensure a safe and sustainable quality of life with their health

The most important part about being a nanny...

My experience as a nanny has shown that there are a number of essential aspects. First and foremost, the biggest aspect to being a nanny is one who is responsible. A responsible nanny will always be on time, they will plan ahead to ensure that nothing is rushed or compromised. A part of being responsible is also someone who communicates with their employer to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. But even more so, the biggest part about being a nanny is that they genuinely seek to develop a sense of trust with children, that they want to form a bond. In order to speak their (kid’s) language, I think the best ingredient for the perfect nanny recipe in this aspect is to have a good sense of humor, show understanding and express patience.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with them from time to time in the past, however, I wouldn’t say I am experienced with them. I very much enjoy seeing children grow, explore and learn about life. I am willing to learn.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment has got to be singing and dancing with the kids to vacation bible songs. I remember some of the dances had an interactive part where you had to hi-five or spin someone. You should have seen the looks on my kids’ face, their smile was so vibrant it was as if they had painted a ray of sunshine across their face :)
