More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Experience includes teaching swim lessons, life guarding, principal of a Sunday school program, teaching Sunday school classes, and teaching bible school classes.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

walks, playground, hikes, red light/green light, Simon says, tag, being silly, age-appropriate cooking, painting, friendship bracelets, painting nails, puzzles, go, chess, checkers, board games, reading books, making up comics and stories

The most important part about being a nanny...

is keeping kids physically and emotionally safe and allowing them to be seen and heard.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a younger brother on the autism spectrum

The most important part about being a nanny...

The seven-year-old I nanny is so creative, and she likes to include me as a character in the comic strips she writes.

When the 4-year-old I nanny has a tantrum I take a deep breath and validate his feelings. He often says he's mad, and I respond, "I know you're mad. It's ok to be mad." This usually calms him to a place where we can talk about whatever triggered him. It's nice to support him in this way even though it can be a lot of overwhelming feelings for both of us!
