More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My experience with children includes volunteering at the Hawthorne Judy Center with preschool and kindergarten prep classes while I was in high school. In recent years I have been an AmeriCorps reading tutor in Ames schools for Kindergarten through third grade. Currently, I freelance tutor kindergarten through eighth grade, primarily in reading but in other subjects as well. Many of my students have English as their second language. I work as a special education assistant in Ames schools for kindergarten through eighth grade, providing academic support and behavior interventions if needed. Many of the special education students I help are on the autism spectrum.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love reading with children and teaching them everything from academic subjects to communication skills. Seeing a child's curiosity blossom is extremely rewarding for me. I enjoy helping children with crafts, picnics, playing at the park, nature walks, and baking. I can help your children with their homework and help them to gain an academic edge if desired.
My experience with special needs children...
As a special educational assistant, I work with special needs children every day. Most of the children I help are somewhere on the autism spectrum. I provide academic support in all subjects and behavior interventions if needed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
