Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've been a professional in-home nanny for over 10 years, however my most recent position was a toddler teacher at the #1 Montessori school in Utah. Additionally I took on a substitute role and got to teach in the infant classrooms up through 2nd grade Elementary. Caring for infants and young children is the most rewarding career in the world to me. Nothing gives me more satisfaction and purpose than observing and assisting a child as they explore their world and grow into confident, intelligent humans. I love being someone that parents can count on to keep their child happy and safe. I love the balancing act of caring for children's basic needs (healthy meals & sleep), engaging their minds through stimulating activities, and being the attentive & present caretaker they need when emotions run high. I feel my main job is help them feel safe, seen, soothed and secure. I do that by providing a safe environment with the right materials with an observant, fun and loving presence.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Stroller walks, visits to the park, aquarium, children's museums, libraries, splash pads etc. Teaching with puzzles, learning based toys. Carpet play, imaginative play, blocks & building toys, reading stories, singing songs, learning letter sounds, snuggles, exploring nature together.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a fun and loving presence that allows a child of any age to feel safe and confident while they explore and develop. Being in the moment and present for them. Everything can be fun, from cleaning up our toys to feeding ourselves - we have fun, laugh and play all day.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It was a quiet, Fall day and I was on our daily stroller walk with a little guy I nannied. I kept seeing a small hand reach up to receive a single goldfish cracker from me. Every one minute or so his little hand would raise up and I'd place another fishy in it. No words exchanged. Just a little hand grasping around each little fishy while we walked, both of us totally present and loving the moment. <3
