A little bit about me

Hello there! My name is Rain, I’ve been working in a professional setting with children since high school, though I’ve been babysitting since I was old enough to cook. I am CPR and first aid certified. I have spent the last two years working with special ed children ages 3-5. I believe children learn best through experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. I have spent many years learning how to create that environment through trial and error, formal teaching and learning under people I deeply respect. I have a reliable 2023 Honda with anchors for car seats.
I personally love to be outside, a sunny day in my porch swing with a book and a hot cup of coffee is my ideal way to spend a Sunday morning. I enjoy cooking and can make a meal out of most anything. Hiking is one of my favorite hobbies, as in I follow my husband onto a trail to point out mushrooms and salamanders until we reach the top.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I spent three years working in childcare settings (ages 6M-5Y). I then moved to Watertown Ny and currently work in a special education preschool. I have my birth-3 CDA (Child Development Associate).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I adore any and all sensory exploration activities, I will always get elbow deep in a mess with your child. For older children (3-8 for example) independent, but never unsupervised, outdoor play/risky play is very important for development and body awareness. I love getting down and dirty in a park/playground. Sand boxes are the foundation of my childhood creativity. On hot days water play is also a go to activity for me. Whether that be a hose or a good old sensory bin there are so many ways to make the experience unique while still promoting development in fine motor skills, cause and effect skills and hand eye coordination. Play dates and outings are always a favorite for all parties!
