Reading books, art projects, science projects, picnics at the park, light saber battles, box wars (armor constructed from cardboard boxes), visiting zoos and museums, trips to the beach, anything that gets our bodies and/or our brains moving.

I believe anyone considering working with children needs to have a heart for it. If you're not approaching this with love and excitement, the kiddos can sense it. They deserve the people in their lives to be present, compassionate, and loving.

I've cared for two families with autistic children. I also volunteered at a therapeutic equestrian program for children and teens with disabilities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There are SO many! Kids really do say the darndest things. A recent favorite was seeing my former NK's (nanny kiddos!) who I provided live-in care for. We went to a huge ranch to pet the animals, have a picnic, and just spend some quality time.
