My name is Miffy and I’ve been a preschool teacher for three years now. I’m originally from San Diego, CA and just recently made the move to New Orleans! I hold an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education and have a background in play-based education. I have experience working with children three months to six years and specialize in infant-toddler care. I’m currently working towards my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and believe making the transition from center-based care to nannying would help support my goal of becoming a well-rounded teacher in the future. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a girl scout for twelve years and co-lead a troop of girls five through ten in San Diego for four years! I am incredibly passionate about the Girl Scout program and hope to continue to volunteer in New Orleans.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

With a specialization in infant-toddler care, I’ve become an expert at sensory activities that teach children about the world around them while they’re having fun! I think getting a little bit messy is not only okay, but encouraged when it comes to learning. This makes activities and learning more engaging, and involving children in the clean-up afterwards teaches responsibility from a young age.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe that when it comes to young children, teaching them emotional regulation and independence is what sets them up for success. Letters and numbers can be learned at any point; social-emotional skills are foundational to being able to navigate the world.

My experience with special needs children...

As a teacher in center-based care, I’ve worked with children with mild to moderate developmental disabilities, and as such, I know that just like for abled-bodied children, no two kids are the same. I have experience working alongside parents and medical professionals to ensure children’s needs are being met and that they’re able to thrive alongside their peers.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the most rewarding parts of being a teacher is knowing that my students trust me and know that I’ll always care for them. When a child turns to me for help or comfort, I know that I’ve truly shown up for them and proven that I can be a trusted adult to them— it’s an incomparable feeling!
